anti-romeo
not a welcoming situation for any aspiring romeo, or even a few tired birds... the medieval elements striate this façade in rough-hewn solidity, determined to deter and repel all interlopers...
Bonjour Peter! Again, I don't have the exact address, but it was taken the same day as the other gate you asked about. The building could be on a side street off the Canal st-Martin in the 10th section, before I turned west on Rue des Récollets and then south on Rue du Faubourg St-Martin. [Usually I do write down or shoot the street name signs, but I was with a friend that day and wasn't as diligent with my attention!] If you find both gate and building one day, do let me know. I should retrace my steps and do a search as well next time I am in Paris!

*NEWER BOOK:: BARCELONA PRIMITIVA a photo-essay book depicting the older and newer layers of Barcelona, from the provocatively primitive to the radically elegant, from the rapturous Casa Batllo to the cerebral Pavello Mies van der Rohe, all aglow in shades of barça blanca... it is available through the blurb bookstore and can be previewed here:: www.blurb.ca/user/store/gverster
another of my sidekick blogs:: www.parigigi.blogspot.com for selling all the bits and pieces of France collected over the years. It was always a thrill to find them, be they from antique shops and fairs or massive flea markets or village vide-greniers or neighbourhood brocantes in Paris and many other regions of France. Each object encompasses an adventure or journey to come upon it and many were found with their own stories told to me. [I have quoted the prices in Euros, Canadian and US dollars, now at par]

Not that I consider me as a Romeo, but could you give the address! Just for a look, not for trying to escalate!
Bonjour Peter!

Maybe we can try to (re)find it together then one day?
That would be fun, Peter!
I am hoping to be back in Paris in April...
